Creating Voices in Quiet World

Hear Me Out! [CC] is a place to celebrate the individual identities by sharing stories about other d/Deaf and my own personal journey.

This site also exists to raise deaf awareness, help educate the hearing world as well as helping those who are d/Deaf to connect with the individual stories.

“The handicap of deafness is not in the ear; it is in the mind.”

– Marlee Matlin

My Story

“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”

– Mark Twain

My own personal journey is a complicated one. Even though I have been deaf/hard of hearing since birth, I still grew up in the mainstream hearing world and barely got involved with the d/Deaf community.

As an “inbetweener”, where I have one foot in the hearing and one foot in the deaf world, it’s not that easy to create an identity for yourself. But it also means that I have a unique position and understanding of both worlds.
