Creating Voices in Quiet World

Hear Me Out [CC] is a place to celebrate the #DeafCulture and the individual identities by sharing stories about other people and my own personal journey. This site exists to help educate the hearing world as well as helping those in the d/Deaf world and the “inbetweeners”.

“The handicap of deafness is not in the ear; it is in the mind.”

– Marlee Matlin

My Story

“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”

– Mark Twain

My own personal journey is a complicated one. Even though I was born with a hearing loss since birth, I still grew up in the mainstream hearing world and barely stepped foot in the deaf community.

As an “inbetweener”, where I have one foot in the hearing and one foot in the deaf world, it’s not that easy to create an identity for yourself. But it also means that I have a unique position and understanding of both worlds.
